Roles and permissions

Zaptec's EV charging system provides flexible access control using three distinct roles: User, Owner, and Service. Each role comes with specific responsibilities and permissions to ensure secure and efficient system use.

Overview of roles

  • User: Basic access to plug in and charge a vehicle.
  • Owner: Manages installations and charging stations, including settings, users, and reports.
  • Service: Technical access for installers and service partners to configure and maintain equipment.

Access levels may vary depending on the product:

  • Zaptec Pro: Roles apply at both charger and installation level.
  • Zaptec Go: Roles apply only at the installation level.

Owner role

The Owner role is split into two levels: charger owner and installation owner.

Service role

The Service role is for certified Zaptec partners or installers with full technical access.

This role should only be assigned to trusted partners or internal technical staff responsible for system maintenance and support.
