Solar Integration with Zaptec Go and Zaptec Go 2

Integrate solar charging with Zaptec Go and Zaptec Go 2 using either Zaptec dynamic load balancing or OCPP 1.6J Smart Charging profiles.

Zaptec Go and Zaptec Go 2 chargers support solar integration through either the Zaptec API or OCPP 1.6J Smart Charging profiles.

Use Zaptec dynamic load balancing when the installation stays in Default Charging mode. Use OCPP 1.6J Smart Charging profiles when the installation is operated through an OCPP Central System.

Solar integration using Zaptec dynamic load balancing

The installation must be set to Default Charging mode before you control charging current through Zaptec dynamic load balancing.

  1. Confirm that the charger is in an installation that is configured for Dynamic load balancing and is online
  2. Follow the API documentation to track the charger state
  3. Dynamically adjust the current limit in response to the solar output, in accordance with user preferences and expectations
  4. For 3-phase Zaptec Go 2 installations, you can control whether charging occurs on 1- or 3-phases

The charger will then follow the specified charging current and number of phases.

Solar integration using OCPP 1.6J Smart Charging profile on Go

The installation must be set to OCPP 1.6J mode before you control charging with OCPP Smart Charging profiles.

  1. Confirm that the charger is in an installation that is set to authentication type OCPP1.6J, is online and configured for OCPP1.6J operation
  2. Confirm that the charger is connected to your OCPP Central System
  3. Send the OCPP SmartCharging profile to the charger via your OCPP Central System

The charger will then follow the specified smart charging profile.
